University College of Medical Sciences and Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital run one of Delhi's busier obstetrics and gynaecology departments. Their residents see male factor cases constantly and, like most residents in India, spend almost no structured time on the laboratory side of it.
The workshop put them at the bench. Semen analysis performed by hand, sperm preparation run in front of them, and the parameters a routine report leaves out, worked through on real samples rather than slides.
It was organised under the aegis of the AOGD Infertility and Reproductive Endocrinology Subcommittee, with the UCMS Principal and the GTB Medical Director as guests of honour.
